On Tuesday evening, July 28, 2009, members of the Bon Air and Springfield Fire Companies competed for bragging rights on the softball diamond located across from Station 44.  Bon Air jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning behind the power hitting and model like poses of Nick "The Machine" Pelka and Harry "Houdini" Kent.  But just as Kent was able to make the softball disappear into the outfield, Bon Air's lead quickly faded.  Springfield, with its home field advantage, rallied in the top of the third inning and quickly went ahead by three runs, making the score 5-2.  Springfield went on to win the contest by a comfortable margin and treated the visiting team to a BBQ after the game.  Thanks Co. 44 for your hospitality.  We look forward to evening out the series soon.
