TO OUR NEIGHBORS
Dear Neighbor,

We have recently answered an alarm in your neighborhood.  This letter will hopefully answer some questions.

By Keeping alert your senses of sight, smell, and hearing, many potential disasters can been averted.  If you see or smell smoke, if you smell natural gas where there should be no odor, or if you hear a smoke detector or cry for help, reporting these problems can save lives as well as property.  Remember that you, our friends, are our senses and  your neighbors' lifelines.  Below, you will find some basic tips as well as some answers.

  • The most important thing to remember in any alarm is to get yourself and any other person clear of the hazard.  Make sure everyone is accounted for.
  • Call or have someone else call 911.  This is your lifeline for Fire, Police, and/or Medical assistance.  Be sure to stay on the line with the dispatcher in order to provide emergency responders with as much information about the location and nature of the alarm as possible.
  • By marking the front of your residence with the street number, you will make it easier for the emergency personnel to find your location.  The numbers should be located on or close to the front door, at least 3 inches high, and of a contrasting color easily seen during night or day.
  • Remember the size of our vehicles trying to make any turns, and park accordingly.  Also, on larger vehicles, if you have fold-in mirrors, please fold them in on the street side, to avoid any damage.
  • If you have a power line down and it is sparking, even if it has set fire to a tree or bush, we will not fight the fire until we know that the power has been shut down.  Electricity and water do not mix, regardless of what is burning.  We will know that the power has been shut off only when we are notified by the power company representative on the scene.
  • We are here FOR you, and BECAUSE of you, to SERVE you!  Following these simple tips will help us do our job.
If we can be of any help or answer any questions you may have, please let us know by calling our business telephone number at  610-446-6008.
