At approximately 12:40 hours, Sunday, January 24, 2010, companies 20 (Garrettford-Drexel Hill), 74 (Primos-Secane Westbrook Park), and 37 (Upper Darby) were dispatched to the 4100 block of Vernon Road, Upper Darby Township, for the dwelling fire; reportedly in the basement.  Chief 20-9 (Hoban) arrived and reported smoke showing.  20-9 directed the first engine to lead off through the front of the building.  UD-11(Hicks) arrived and took command of the C side.  Heavy fire conditions were present in the basement and extended to the C side of the first floor.  Numerous hand lines were placed in service.  UD-11 requested RESCUE 58 for the Airbank.  Once on scene, crews from RESCUE 58 conducted a search for extension inside the twin type exposure building, provided ventilation, bottle service, and assisted with extensive overhaul.  Crews remained in service for approximately three hours.
